Are Bikes Allowed On The High Line?
Bicycles are not allowed on the High Line.
The High Line is a treasured New York City landmark, and biking is not allowed. The reasons are two-fold: first, the High Line is a narrow walkway with limited space for cyclists; and second, the High Line is a place for pedestrians to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature, away from the hustle and bustle of city streets.
Biking on the High Line would not only be dangerous for cyclists, but also for pedestrians. The high-speed traffic on nearby Tenth Avenue makes it difficult enough to cross the street; adding bikes to the mix would make it even more chaotic.
So while biking on the High Line may seem like a fun way to see the city, it’s simply not allowed. Enjoy your walk on the High Line – sans bike!
